Psychology appointments under Medicare are available in-clinic (North Lakes) or online (via telehealth). In order to access services under Medicare, a valid Mental Health Care Plan must be acquired via your GP in advance of engagement. When a valid Mental Health Care Plan has been obtained, a rebate is available for psychological treatment under Medicare of $98.91 (as at 1 July, 2025) for up to 10 sessions and the remaining gap fee is payable by the individual. Due to the costs associated with running a private practice, unfortunately we are unable to offer bulk-billed services.
To be referred for support under a Mental Health Care Plan, make an appointment with your General Practitioner (GP) for further advice and referral. Please consider making a 'long' appointment with your GP (if given the option) to allow sufficient time for them to complete this process with you.
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan (or will be obtaining one in advance of your initial appointment), you can book an appointment by calling our office on 1300 229 906 or via our online portal: https://clientportal.zandahealth.com/clientportal/abilitypsych
Please note: Medicare does not cover disability services and excludes services that are classified as NDIS services. Due to this, services cannot be shared between both schemes interchangeably. In the same way that the NDIS services preclude the use of funding for supports more appropriately funded by the health system (i.e., treatment), Medicare precludes the use of funding for services that are more appropriately funded by the NDIS (e.g., capacity building and disability-related support).

We provide NDIS psychology services in-clinic (North Lakes), online (via telehealth) or via outreach (at home, in the community, schools). We offer both ongoing support (capacity building services) and ad hoc assessments and reports to assist individuals who connect with us under their NDIS Plan. We are able to support both self-managed and plan-managed NDIS Participants. Unfortunately, we are not registered to assist with NDIA / agency-managed plans.
Our team continues to work towards maintaining awareness of NDIS requirements and enjoy working towards established goals collaboratively with Participants of this scheme. We recognise that the NDIS is not designed to fund supports more appropriately funded or provided by the health system. Ability regularly provides both capacity-building support services as well as assessment services (incl. ad hoc assessment, e.g., FCA).
To refer yourself or a Participant for psychology services under the NDIS, contact our intake team on 1300 229 906 or email intake@abilitypsychologyservices.com.

Ability Psychology Services is an approved provider under WorkCover QLD. If you have been injured at work, you may require the services of a Psychologist as part of your recovery. In Queensland, if you have made a claim under WorkCover which has been approved, WorkCover may refer you to a Psychologist. This support is aimed to help you manage your symptoms and improve your overall mental health. These sessions are time-limited and the number of sessions is determined by WorkCover after the assessment of your claim. Sessions are oriented to your engagement with WorkCover and informed by the parameters of your individual circumstances. Successful claims will result in the cost of your sessions being covered by WorkCover.
To book with Ability through funding from WorkCover Queensland, you will need to:
1. Have a General Practitioner (GP) referral. The referral process typically involves a consultation with the GP, who may determine whether psychological treatment is appropriate for your needs. They will also provide you with a referral letter for you to provide to us and WorkCover Queensland.
2. Once you have obtained a referral, you must seek approval from WorkCover Queensland before accessing psychological treatment funding. This typically involves submitting your referral and relevant medical documentation to WorkCover Queensland for review.
3. Once approved for services under WorkCover, please contact us for more information about your options for support at Ability.

Please contact us for more information.
