Ability Psychology Services is an approved provider under WorkCover QLD. If you have been injured at work, you may require the services of a Psychologist as part of your recovery. In Queensland, if you have made a claim under WorkCover which has been approved, WorkCover may refer you to a Psychologist. This support is aimed to help you manage your symptoms and improve your overall mental health. These sessions are time-limited and the number of sessions is determined by WorkCover after the assessment of your claim. Sessions are oriented to your engagement with WorkCover and informed by the parameters of your individual circumstances. Successful claims will result in the cost of your sessions being covered by WorkCover.
Returning to work can be a significant challenge for injured workers, and psychological treatment for some individuals can play an important role in their recovery. Psychological therapy, in some cases, may work towards a client’s goals to develop coping strategies and skills to work towards their recovery in the context of their work-related injury. This can sometimes include methods for managing stress, time management, and communication with colleagues and supervisors.
To book with Ability through funding from WorkCover Queensland, you will need to:
1. Have a General Practitioner (GP) referral. The referral process typically involves a consultation with the GP, who may determine whether psychological treatment is appropriate for your needs. They will also provide you with a referral letter for you to provide to us and WorkCover Queensland.
2. Once you have obtained a referral, you must seek approval from WorkCover Queensland before accessing psychological treatment funding. This typically involves submitting your referral and relevant medical documentation to WorkCover Queensland for review.
3. Once approved for services under WorkCover, please contact us for more information about your options for support at Ability.
It’s important to note that the referral and approval process may vary depending on your specific circumstances and the type of injury you have sustained. If you have questions about the referral and approval process, you should speak with your WorkCover Queensland case manager or another qualified person.
If approved, Ability can offer a flexible and convenient service accessible via telehealth from anywhere in Queensland and around Australia, or in person at our office (Herston, QLD). Please note that our standard business hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, however we also have some very limited capacity for after hours telehealth services (depending on Clinician availability).
