Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

Learn More

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential, employer-funded service that provides employees with support for personal and work-related issues. These programs often include counseling services to help employees cope with stress, mental health challenges, and other concerns that may impact their well-being and job performance. EAPs are a valuable tool for promoting employee well-being and fostering a healthier workplace.

Not all companies offer EAP however where available, some allow the employee to choose their provider (unless a provider or panel has otherwise been established). You can often find this information by reviewing company resources (e.g., intranet) or by speaking with your employer. If you are able to choose your EAP provider, we'd be happy to accommodate your referral. EAP services are offered in clinic (North Lakes) or via telehealth. We have some (limited) out of hours appointment options with appointments slots occurring between 7:30am to 5:30pm.

EAP services and respective referral goals can be varied, including services such as:

  • Confidential Counselling: Confidential support and guidance to employees dealing with various issues.
  • Work-Related Issues: This includes stress, conflict with colleagues or supervisors, performance issues, and/or adjusting to changes in the workplace.
  • Personal Issues: Services can address personal challenges like relationship problems, family issues, financial difficulties, grief, and substance abuse.
  • Mental Health Support: Services can help employees address mental health concerns, including but not limited to mood disturbances, anxiety, depression and other psychological conditions.
  • Manager Support: Services can offer support and guidance to managers on how to address employee wellbeing and performance issues.

Please Note: Ability has been appointed as a provider under the Queensland Government’s Workplace Health and Wellbeing  Services panel arrangement. For more information, visit our "QLD Government Services' tab.
